Resources

It's important!

The place where we pick

For us, the quality of what we offer or consume begins with where we pick. This is the key to the quality and well-being that we feel afterwards. Potions Boréales works with mainly plants that grow and coexist with us in the territory of Kamouraska county located in Bas Saint-Laurent. We work a lot with the valorization of non-wood forest products. We see it as an incredible resource in first exploitation and not as residue from logging. We value our forests and believe that it is possible to exploit them without intensive logging but through responsible harvesting to obtain shared benefits. Picking is the first crucial step for a quality product. We pick the plants that we transform ourselves and distill them the same day, most of the time, in order to maximize their full potential. We choose places that are a little remote, far from roads, fields which may be contaminated and far from high frequency waves and bad ambient vibrations which could affect the plants through unwanted stress or contamination.

The place is important

It directly reflects the aromatic and therapeutic potential of the plant. We have been harvesting in our region for more than 20 years, we survey the territory rigorously. We always ask Mother Earth for permission to pick and leave an offering for each pick in return to maintain this sacred balance of mutual respect. Most of the picking is done on private lots where it is possible to maintain management and precise plans for picking rotations. We also have the chance and pleasure of picking from admirably dedicated and wonderful local organic flower and herb growers. We are able to give a second life to several plants with the distillation process.

The terroir

The word terroir for me invokes the influence of mother earth, the winds, plant and animal species which all gathered in the same place, influence the energy, the taste, the alignment of the growth of the plants. It is this uniqueness, of a place, where the seed placed in the ground will be distinct from the same seed of the same species sown elsewhere. It’s what resembles us, what resonates within us when we live in a place. Our terroir has the capacity to influence our essence, because it vibrates in the same way.

It’s our way of cultivating and building relationships with the people around us.
